What really lurks beneath the Spanish moss?

The American South has produced some of the strangest supernatural legends in the country—from ghosts and witches to bizarre cryptids and unexplained objects in the sky.

This week, Justin and Erik are joined by author Sherry Malaver Parada to discuss her new book, Supernatural South: Gothic Tales of Ghosts, Cryptids & Unexplained Phenomena.

Sherry takes us deep into stories of the Loup-Garou, Boo Hag, Moon-Eyed People, haunted history, mysterious creatures, possible extraterrestrial encounters, and other strange happenings that have become part of Southern folklore. Llewellyn released Supernatural South in August 2026 as part of its ghosts, hauntings, and mythical-creature catalog.

We'll explore where these legends came from, how history shapes paranormal stories, and whether some folklore may have started with encounters people simply couldn't explain.

👻 What Southern legend creeps you out the most? Let us know in the comments.
